Community Meal at Deri View
Over 100 people (parents and children) enjoyed a community meal at the school on Thursday 14th November. Meet and vegetables for the meal came from local, organic sources. The meal was funded by Organic Centre Wales and is part of their work to raise awareness of the importance of local food production.
A number of groups supported the event including the Abergavenny Community Canteen and Abergavenny Transition Town who ran a food quiz. Most of the hard work was done by the school chef and her staff and event organiser deputy head Jo Childs.

HMRC has also given advance assurance that the share offer qualifies in principle for Enterprise Investment Scheme tax relief. This allows qualifying investors to claim tax relief of 30% of the value of their shares in the first year, boosting the effective rate of return to 8.1%. So, a win all round! You can invest anywhere from £250 to £20,000 and the share offer closes at the end of this month. The co-operative has already raised over £90,000 towards their target, and if you’d like to know more, the group will be staging a special presentation for us ahead of our film screening on Tuesday 19 November. The presentation will start at 6pm with a brief talk, followed by Q&As, and will wrap up in time for our screening. In the meantime, if you’d like to find out more, go to their website – http://www.llangattockgreenvalleys.org/shareoffer, where you can read about the project, download the full Share Offer Document and find dates for other presentations in case you can’t make it along the 19th.
