FCFCG All Wales Members Event : Community Farming and Gardening in Wales – Where next?
@ Abergavenny Food Festival and Abergavnny Community Orchard, Saturday 21 September 2013.
Over the last five years we have seen exciting developments within the community farming and gardening movement in Wales. The Fed has played a pivotal role in this in both supporting the movement and promoting it at policy level, but where next? This is an opportunity to come together with other members and feedback directly to our board on where we go from here and discuss the wider impact community gardening is having in Wales.
The afternoon session is optional and will be open to the public with a range of talks, including an over-view and visit to Abergavnny Community Orchard and the development of an Incredible Edible Scheme within the town.

CLAS Cymru
Since the launch of the new Community Land Advisory Service in Wales on 22nd July 2013, CLAS Cymru has been working hard to bring community groups and landowners together. We also helped a community group submit a planning application for the harnessing of water on a community growing site.
On a strategic level, we are currently working with local authorities, a variety of landowners and with policy makers by highlighting the benefits of community growing and how it increases opportunities for access to the countryside and recreation uses within it. North Wales Community Growing Gathering, 29 September
This gathering will be held at the beautiful Garth Hillside Organic Garden at Glyn Ceiriog near Llangollen. The programme includes a tour and introduction to permaculture and forest gardening; workshops on compost loos and making herbal remedies; a lovely local lunch and a talk on selling produce – both fresh and processed. This day is free and is aimed at community growers and aspiring community growers – whether you’re a volunteer, project manager, allotment holder or school gardener. Please pass this message on if you are the person who receives emails on behalf of your membership. Places are limited and we do charge a late cancellation/no show fee to try and encourage all the places being used. For more information, go to the FCFCG website.
Wales CSA Gathering, 27 & 28 September, Pembrokeshire
The next Wales Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) gathering will be held at Lammas Ecovillage in the Preseli hills of Pembrokeshire. We’ll be meeting on the Friday evening to celebrate with music and storytelling, before having the gathering event on the Saturday. This will be a day for CSA’s to come together and support each other endeavours (including the setup of a new CSA at Lammas!), share information, and set the foundations for a Wales CSA network. Information day for landowners, 21 October, Chepstow
The Community Land Advisory Service is holding an information day for landowners on Monday 21 October 2013. It will be an opportunity to see first hand how community growing can work on farm land. We will be based at the Hanley Land Share Project in Chepstow where the farmer at Severndale Farm has leased some of his land out for community growing. This will be an opportunity to gain information and advice from professional surveyors and town planners who have experience of landowners leasing their land for community growing projects. ‘Want to get involved harvesting fruit in your community? Here’s how’
This season looks like it will be a bumper crop for apples and pears, if you would like to set up a community fruit harvesting scheme we now have a Fruit Harvesting toolkit available online and support and advice available. Contact the Development Worker for your area for more information or read about fruit harvesting project Orchard Cardiff on our blog. Orchard Cardiff will also be delivering a talk on setting up a fruit harvesting project at our All Wales members gathering on 21 September.

Promote your harvest events and receive free resources from the BBC
Is your project planning a harvest event? This year, the BBC will be running a 3 part series revealing the secrets behind the UK’s annual harvest and finding out more about how our food is produced. Yn ystod y pum mlynedd diwethaf gwelwyd datblygiadau cyffrous yn y mudiad ffermio a garddio cymunedol yng Nghymru. Mae’r Ffederasiwn wedi chwarae rhan hollbwysig yn hyn, trwy gefnogi’r mudiad a’i hyrwyddo ar lefel polisi, ond ble nesaf? Mae hwn yn gyfle i ddod ynghyd i gyfarfod aelodau eraill a rhoi adborth uniongyrchol i’n bwrdd ynglŷn â ble’r ydym yn mynd nesaf a thrafod yr effaith ehangach y mae garddio cymunedol yn ei chael yng Nghymru.
Mae sesiwn y pnawn yn ddewisol a bydd yn agored i’r cyhoedd. Bydd nifer o sgyrsiau, yn cynnwys trosolwg ac ymweliad â Pherllan Gymunedol y Fenni a datblygu Cynllun Bwyd Bendigedig o fewn y dref.

CLAS Cymru
Ers lansio gwasanaeth newydd CLAS Cymru ar 22 Gorffennaf 2013, mae Gwasanaeth Cynghori ar Dir Cymunedol Cymru (CLAS Cymru) wedi bod yn gweithio’n galed i ddod â grwpiau cymunedol a pherchnogion tir at ei gilydd. Rydym hefyd wedi helpu grŵp cymunedol i gyflwyno cais cynllunio d ddefnyddio dŵr mewn safle tyfu cymunedol.
Ar lefel strategol, rydym yn gweithio ar hyn o bryd gydag awdurdodau lleol, amryw o berchnogion tir a gyda gwneuthurwyr polisi trwy dynnu sylw at fanteision tyfu cymunedol a sut mae’n cynyddu cyfleoedd i gael mynediad i gefn gwlad a defnyddiau hamdden o’i fewn. Cynhelir cyfarfod nesaf Amaeth a Gefnogir gan y Gymuned (CSA) Cymru yn Ecobentref Lammas wrth droed mynyddoedd y Preseli yn Sir Benfro. Byddwn yn cyfarfod nos Wener i ddathlu gyda cherddoriaeth a straeon, cyn y cyfarfod cyffredinol ar ddydd Sadwrn. Bydd hwn yn ddiwrnod i bob CSA ddod at ei gilydd a chefnogi ymdrechion ein gilydd (yn cynnwys sefydlu CSA newydd yn Lammas!), rhannu gwybodaeth, a gosod y sylfeini ar gyfer rhwydwaith CSA Cymru. Bydd yn gyfle i weld drosoch eich hun sut mae tyfu cymunedol yn gallu gweithio ar dir fferm. Byddwn ym Mhrosiect Rhannu Tir Hanley Lane yng Nghas-gwent lle mae’r ffermwr yn Fferm Severndale wedi prydlesu rhywfaint o’i dir ar gyfer tyfu cymunedol. Bydd hwn yn gyfle i gael gwybodaeth a chyngor gan syrfewyr proffesiynol a chynllunwyr tref sydd â phrofiad o berchnogion yn prydlesu eu tir ar gyfer prosiectau tyfu cymunedol.
