The Community Canteen on 16th August raised over £276 for ATT. This money will be used to pay for the annual insurance premium which covers events run by community groups affiliated to ATT.

A message from the ATT treasurer

‘Please extend the thanks and gratitude of ATT to the community canteen workers and punters who have, again, raised the money for the ATT Insurance premium. Last year numerous events run by transition town affiliated groups in Abergavenny were covered by this insurance policy. We hope that similar will be the case this year.’

I’m pleased to report that Abergavenny Transition Town has successfully obtained funding for creating a traditional garden in the grounds of Abergavenny Museum. We have  obtained the following funds:
– £150 garden vouchers from Keep Wales Tidy to kick things off and create pollinator friendly wildflower garden
– £3k from National Lottery via Kew Garden for a much bigger project between March and October.
As I mentioned in a previous email we are going to kick this off with a weekend of digging, turf stripping, preparing a seed bad and scattering seed (in a gardening sort of way) on the 29 and 30 March. Probable times are 10-4 on Saturday and 12-4 on Sunday although we will confirm these times nearer the date.
When we have this first weekend out of the way (using the £150 garden vouchers from KWT) we will  be planning the bigger project.
If anyone can spare an hour or so on the Saturday or Sunday to help out please let me know. I know there’s other stuff going on that weekend (including Mothers Day) but a condition of the scheme is that we spend the vouchers and complete the project by the end of March.

World Dance are very pleased to support the new organisation, Wellbeing Matters Abergavenny, with a fundraising Family Ceilidh on Friday, 7th March 2014, 7.30 pm, doors open at 7.00 pm at the Abergavenny Guide Hall, Fairfield Car Park, Abergavenny NP7 5TR.
Wellbeing Matters Abergavenny, is being set up as a small charity and part of the larger Abergavenny Transition Town, to promote all aspects of wellbeing & health in this area.  In addition, Wellbeing Matters is identifying the existing support and services that provide and promote health and wellbeing in the Abergavenny area.  
 
The reason for this current fundraising is to fund a larger event at the Market Hall on Sunday April 27th where groups and practitioners which support the mental, physical and spiritual health and wellbeing including NHS and Social Services are given the opportunity to meet the general community of the Abergavenny area.  The aim being to raise awareness as to the wide-ranging support and opportunities available here in Abergavenny and surrounding areas. The organisers would like to keep this day free of any charges for entry or exhibitors.
 
The Ceilidh is for ‘children of all ages’ with fun dances, experienced caller and Live music from 6/7 piece World Dance Band
 
Soft drinks bar, bring your own alcohol 
Entrance for  World Dance Family Ceilidh – £7.50 adults and £2.50 accompanied children
